RFID Gen2 Id Cards Combined with Second Generation Biometric Facial Recognition Forms the Basis for TetraGate II from epcSolutions

Great Falls, VA – epcSolutions, the authors of ThingsNet, the platform for the Internet of Business, announce today the release of TetraGate II. TetraGate II is the improved platform for Gen2 security for the next generation of access control. This new generation is now approaching 100% of matching faces to RFID Id cards at distances up to 25ft and normal walking speed. Gen2 RFID Id cards, which hold only a 96 bit tag Id, are used as a key to database searches to identify distinct facial biometric details to be matched. Since the RFID Id card contains no biometric information, hacking the card to change the biometric data is impossible. If an RFID Id card is hacked, the only information available would be the hexadecimal code, which holds no personal information and no value.
What was learned from using Gen1 facial recognition, was that we needed more data reference points. The second generation biometric facial recognition gives us 87 points of reference to us and includes 3D, 2D and compact 2D biometric algorithms is combined with six different facial images taken at enrollment to provide much improved biometric facial matching.
The improved system provides a greater degree of access control that eliminates tailgating and buddy badging by ensuring that the proper faces are matched to the proper Gen2 RFID Id cards. “With the combination of Gen2 RFID Id cards and second generation biometric facial recognition, we have been able to create a very powerful security platform” states Rick Kail, Director of Security for epcSolutions. “Add in the relationships with our partners, and we have a world class offering that cannot be matched by anyone in the market today.” Mr. Kail continued.
