DesignReaction.org Launches New Web Site for Sharing and Distributing Socially Conscious Posters

DesignReaction.org, a newly launched web site developed by Baltimore, Maryland based graphic designer, Scott Spector is empowering graphic designers and others in the creative community to spread their socially conscious poster work to wider audiences. DesignReaction.org creates a new Internet-based community for exhibiting and distributing social, political, and environmental poster designs to the public and non-profit organizations.

In addition to making existing posters centered around socially conscious issues available to the public, DesignReaction.org fosters a unique bond between graphic designers and non-profit organizations. Participating non-profit organizations in need of a poster for a social cause issue can create a “Call for Posters” that will be made available for all participating graphic designers to download. Posters that are designed in response to the “Call for Posters” are uploaded to the web site where the non-profit can choose a poster from the submissions to use for its cause. This process, unique to DesignReaction.org, is made possible through Internet and digital technology, Creative Commons and members of the creative community with a passion to help create positive social change.

All of the posters uploaded are licensed under the Creative Commons copyright system–a form of copyright that affords more freedoms to the public than traditional copyright. A specific Creative Commons license is applied to the posters that legally protects the work of the creator while offering the public less restricted access to the posters.

DesignReaction.org removes existing geographic barriers that historically prevented the spreading of graphic design. Designers located anywhere in the world can now design and upload posters to the DesignReaction.org web site in response to any event impacting the public good. The posters are made available on the web site for any member of the public to download for free. Members of the creative community and non-profit organizations can create a free account by visiting www.designreaction.org.
