Unique Art and Great Music Sets Stage for 3rd Annual Tempe, Arizona Arts and Entertainment Weekend Featuring the Tempe Festival Of The Arts and the Tempe Music Festival

Tempe, Arizona March 11, 2007 – From March 30-April 1, Tempe, Arizona will attract art and music lovers during Arts and Entertainment Weekend. Tempe’s Arts and Entertainment Weekend in the Mill Avenue District is comprised of two of the most anticipated annual events, the Tempe Festival of the Arts and the Circle K Tempe Music Festival.Located in the Phoenix metropolitan area, Tempe is already a popular destination for its full calendars of cultural events. In addition to the Arts and Entertainment Weekend, Tempe boasts an annual calendar filled with Broadway shows at ASU Gammage, film festivals, live music venues, art exhibitions at Arizona State University and more.
There are 365 fine artists, crafts persons, and culinary artists who have been jury selected to participate in the 30th annual Tempe Festival of the Arts, scheduled March 30 through April 1 in the Mill Avenue District. The Tempe Festival of the Arts will open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. daily. Admission to the festival is free.
Tempe Festival of the Arts is the largest festival of its kind in Arizona. The artists come from throughout the state and the nation. According to the Downtown Tempe Community, the event organizers, nearly 35% of the festival’s spectators come from outside the Phoenix metro area.
Encompassing nearly five city blocks in the Mill Avenue District near Arizona State University’s Tempe campus, the event is held between 3rd Street and University on Mill Avenue. The surrounding streets also will be filled with arts and entertainment.
The Circle K Tempe Music Festival, Arizona’s largest music festival, is being held March 30 and 31 at Tempe Beach Park, which is adjacent to the Mill Avenue District. The Circle K Tempe Music Festival boasts three stages of entertainment featuring national, regional and local acts including O.A.R., The Fray, Cowboy Mouth and Lifehouse.
There are many other activities during the Arts and Entertainment Weekend to pump up the crowd in addition to live music. Fans can play the latest acoustic guitars in the Fender Acoustashack® and watch instruments being built in the Fender Custom Shop®. The SRP Lil Rockers Kids Area offers fun for the youngest music lovers. Kids can play instruments on 3 small stages, make their own instruments and much more. There will be a large outdoor Gatorade Arcade and sports fans can watch all of the NCAA Final Four action from the Miller Lite Sports Dome.
Anyone attending the Tempe Music Festival on Saturday will be allowed to leave to attend the Tempe Festival of the Arts in the Mill Avenue District, and gain re-entry to the Tempe Music Festival until 6 p.m.
