Logos Bible Software Expands Design & Editorial Department - Hires Sean Boisen and Steven Runge -

BELLINGHAM, WA—March 7, 2007—Logos Bible Software has expanded its design and editorial department by hiring Sean Boisen as senior information architect and Dr. Steven Runge as scholar-in-residence.Boisen is at work on organizing semantic resources to support new approaches to searching and understanding the Scriptures. He is also developing new strategies and technologies for using large digital libraries. Dr. Runge is developing original language tools particularly geared for pastors.

Boisen’s Bio
Sean Boisen has an academic background in computational linguistics, as well as 20 years experience in government funded research in the field. Before coming to Logos, he was a director in the speech and language processing department at BBN Technologies, a high-tech research and development company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In that position, Boisen worked in the areas of natural language processing, extracting information from text, text categorization and retrieval, and speech to text transcription. His other professional interests include the Semantic Web, information visualization, and distance education. Boisen is an adjunct faculty member for Nyack College’s Washington DC campus.
Prior to joining Logos, Boisen launched www.SemanticBible.org to create and share novel resources for Bible study, and has blogged about these and other topics for nearly 4 years. Sean and his wife Donna relocated to Bellingham from Columbia, Maryland; they have five grown children.
Dr. Runge’s Bio
Dr. Steven Runge has had a passion for studying Scripture since becoming a Christian in 1985. He has served over the years in lay ministry as a junior high youth director, interim preacher, elder, and adult Sunday school teacher. He as also served as a district board member with the Evangelical Free Church, and apprenticed for three years with the district in the area of church health. He has sharpened his ministry skills over the years by completing a Master of Theological Studies degree in biblical languages from Trinity Western Seminary, and most recently completed a Doctor of Literature degree, also in biblical languages.
Runge owned a Bellingham-area contracting business for the past ten years, specializing in residential construction. With the completion of his doctoral dissertation, he has hung up his tool belt. Runge has been married for 16 years, has two little girls, and is currently serving as an elder and Bible teacher in his church.
