Artist Deedra Ludwig presents recent paintings in wax, resin, soil and dried botanical specimens. Ludwig has been painting and studing botany for over 20 years. Her recent work reflects the after effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Andrew as she collects natural materials from the Mississippi Delta and the Everglades. She is this years recipient of the 2007 Artist in Residency program in the Everglades National Park where she will document the cycle of plant recovery.Ludwig paints in an abstract style that she describes as an intuitive journey with plants and flora, influenced by Turner and seeks to connect the natural the contemporary world of art. Her work is featured in collections in the US, Asia and the UK.
