White Plains Maryland, March 1, 2007 – Automated Graphic Systems (AGS), a Consolidated Graphics Company, has recently added a new 6-color Komori Lithrone 28P sheetfed press. Komori’s Lithrone is the next generation printing press and boasts record setting short make-ready thanks to a set of semi-automatic plate hangers on each unit, impressive labor savings thanks to full digitalization and automation and is environmentally sensitive. “AGS’ new 6 color Komori press will allow us to be more competitive, with faster start ups, less waste, and the unique ability to communicate directly with prepress for file downloads and information sharing. This is particularly helpful for our customer base to be able to save information for repeat printings. The press also has an aqueous coating unit which gives us the flexibility to coat sheets for protection and faster drying times off press”, said Jeff Gomes, Director of Manufacturing for AGS.
This press is also equipped with the Komori’s KHS System which offers short make-ready while reducing paper waste. Along with automatic perfecting, AGS now has ability to print up to 6-colors on one side or print double-sided 2 over 4-colors and run up to speeds of 15,000 sheets per hour. This press will give AGS more versatility which will allow more printing options for their clients.
The in-line aqueous coater is a great addition to this press. Not only does it allow the press sheets to dry faster resulting in quicker turn around times, it’s also water based. This means no harmful chemicals are used and this coater isn’t harmful to the environment.
