"Judgment Rising," the third book of the epic fantasy series "The Rys Chronicles," has been released in digital formats ahead of its trade paperback publication. As of March 1, "Judgment Rising" is available in three formats from Brave Luck Books ™ the fantasy imprint of Falbe Publishing in Chico, California. The trade paperback release of "Judgment Rising: The Rys Chronicles Book III" is coming on May 1, and Tracy Falbe, the author of the series, decided that there was no need to make ebook readers wait until production of the trade paperback was complete.
"The files used to transform a manuscript into a printed book are the foundation of all the ebook versions," Falbe said. "So, as soon as that part of production is done, the ebooks are ready to go even when more fine tuning and planning are still needed to manufacture the printed versions."
"The Rys Chronicles" debuted in January 2006 with the publication of "Union of Renegades" and "The Goddess Queen" that received good reviews from the Midwest Book Review and Crystal Reviews. "Judgment Rising" continues the story after the outcome of the destructive power struggle between powerful magic users and their human allies told in the first two books. In "Judgment Rising" two forces rise to confront the heroes of the fantasy series. One is driven by the human ambition of the Atrophane Empire, and the other is a vengeful pair of sorcerers that arise from the dead civilization of a haunted land.
Since the publication of "The Rys Chronicles" it has been steadily gaining readers as the small independent fantasy imprint labors to promote its fantasy series in a popular yet competitive market.
"The positive feedback I've gotten from my readers adds to my motivation," Falbe said of bringing her fantasy series to the public. "Fantasy is an enduring genre with loyal fans," she added.
Recent analysis of the genre market indicates a growing market for epic fantasy and its related genres. In January 2007 Locus Magazine reported that science fiction and fantasy imprints published 2495 titles in 2006 compared to 1829 in 1996 – an increase of 36% in 10 years.
