At IMHX 2007, IAS Industore will be exhibiting Hänel’s automated storage systems that have revolutionised warehousing and materials handling across the manufacturing, engineering and aerospace sectors. The Hänel Lean-Lift and Rotomat utilise the available room height of a premises in its entirety in a similar fashion to high bay racking. However, unlike high bay racking Hänel’s systems allow high storage density. The result? Maximum storage capacity on a minimum footprint. This is coupled with the swift and ergonomic retrieval of stored items.
At BMW’s main distribution centre in Bracknell, where a bank of 12 Lean-Lifts have been installed, stock for despatch to BMW’s 200 strong dealership network is brought to the user, who works at a bank of three Lean-Lifts, in an average of 21 seconds. Compare this to an average retrieval time of one minute with high bay racking and the benefits of automated storage become more tangible.
Hänel’s range of automated storage systems are also complemented by a range of integrated stock management software solutions. At BMW, the Lean-Lifts receive a daily pick-list through interaction with BMW’s bespoke software. This pick-list is then activated by the user under fully automatic control.
At Keymed a Lean-Lift was installed to store reels containing surface mounted components. Each stored item is fitted with a barcode which is scanned upon each pick to confirm its retrieval and also to keep track of inventory levels. Hänel and IAS Industore software interacts with Keymed’s software to enable this function.
IAS Industore’s relationship with Hänel is now entering its 11th year. In this successful period it has offered expert solutions to companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Rolls Royce and BAE Systems. The key to this success is IAS Industore’s ability to offer tailored solutions for the storage problems of clients that contribute to their commercial success.
At IMHX 2007, IAS Industore’s Project Managers will be present to demonstrate the Hänel Lean-Lift and Rotomat and offer their professional advice on how these can be effectively integrated into your warehouse.
