Dayton, OH – Barco, a world leader in high-performance image processing and visual display systems, today announced that Lockheed Martin has selected its advanced video processing technology for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter training program. Barco’s technology will be incorporated into the F-35 training simulators to provide the video routing, mixing, and warping capabilities for strike fighter flight training subsystems."We are delighted that our image processing technology will play a supporting role in the F-35 training program,” says Al Herman, Vice President and General Manager of Barco’s simulation business. “F-35 is the backbone of the Unites States’ future fighter aircraft force, and high-quality simulation is central to the program’s training success. Our proprietary warping technology along with our strong track record of delivering quality results were key factors to being selected for this program. Our technology will provide the best image processing the industry has to offer to ensure the finest in simulation display.”
The Joint Strike Fighter program is the US Department of Defense's (DOD) focal point for affordable next-generation strike aircraft weapons systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines and the United States’ allies. Barco’s turnkey solution will play a pivotal role in effectively managing and shaping the visual system’s imaging and video signals. It is a collaborative effort between Barco’s simulation and media & entertainment divisions to deliver the world’s best video processing and image warping solutions to the JSF program.
Barco’s turnkey solution includes the MatrixPRO DVI and MatrixPro VRM systems which will be used for efficiently routing and mixing SXGA and QXGA video signals. The JSF solution also employs Barco’s advanced WARP7 image warping system. This technology will be used to successfully scale, warp, and route images which are displayed to the Pilot during training on various aircraft displays. Integral to the solutions delivery, is Barco’s comprehensive service and support plan. Barco will provide project management from start to finish, perform the system installation and integration, offer engineering support, prepare and supply system documentation, and conduct final customer acceptance testing.
