Big Idea Group Brings Its Invention Quest to Las Vegas

Big Idea Group (BIG) is betting on Las Vegas. On March 17-18, the invention agency is bringing its Roadshow tour to town to discover the “next big idea.” Before American Inventor—even before American Idol—BIG took to the road to meet with talented inventors to find promising inventions. As Michael Collins, CEO and founder of BIG explained, the company’s Roadshow differs from the American Inventor approach. “American Inventor is television so it has to be about the drama, the story. For us it’s all about the idea: how good and unique is it?”
BIG’s Roadshows give inventors an honest answer to that question. During the free, confidential sessions, Collins and his panel of experts offer inventors honest, constructive advice and tips about getting to market. They also appraise every idea to determine if it’s one BIG would like to represent to product-licensing companies.
While Big Idea’s selection rate is low—they choose to represent less than three percent of evaluated concepts—the good news for inventors is that once the company takes on an invention, it’s on BIG’s dime. That’s a welcome difference for inventors who are all too familiar with the 1-800 invention agencies that demand money to develop and represent products, yet often deliver little substantive value.
