The Kent community kicks off the spring Art Walk season with Spring Into Art to be held in downtown Kent on Friday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sponsored by Kent Downtown Partnership, Kent Station, Kent School District, and the City of Kent Arts Commission, the 2007 Spring Into Art event has been designed to celebrate young artists, musicians and performers with an activity-filled Friday in downtown Kent.
The public is invited to join Spring Into Art for a full day of art, culture and fun as downtown merchants and event sponsors offer youth-focused workshops and seminars, the annual Kent School District Art Exhibit, performance by local student musicians and a myriad of youth performances on the main stage in Kent’s historic district. Scheduled performances include the Pacific Ballroom Dancers, Emerald Park Elementary’s Terra Musica, musicians from Kent-Meridian High School, karate demonstrations, a Monart drawing workshop, youth belly dancers and more.
Spring Into Art will feature artwork from 23 Kent schools on display at 23 different businesses in downtown Kent, as well as door prizes, raffles and refreshments. Admission is free, so bring the whole family to downtown Kent to celebrate and encourage the arts in our community.
