BCC Software Launches Improved Address-Updating Functionality Within Mail Manager 2010 Software

Rochester, NY — BCC Software, a BÖWE BELL + HOWELL company and a leading developer of high-performance solutions for professional mailers, has released an interim update to its flagship software product that allows users to streamline their use of BCC Data Services, an array of technology processes that enhance address quality and improve deliverability and mailing economy.

The enhancement, now available in BCC’s Mail Manager 2010 and Mail Manager 2010 LE software packages, enables one list or multiple lists to be electronically packaged and sent to BCC for processing via United States Postal Service® NCOALink Product and BCC’s Suppression services in a single job. Previously, users desiring both processes would send the list twice.

“We’re thrilled to announce this updated feature, which delivers more efficient Data Services access to current and future BCC customers,” said Mark Higgins, Vice President of Marketing and Data Services. “Previously, users had to send lists separately for NCOALink and Suppression processing, which created a slight bottleneck that might have prevented some time-sensitive mailings from benefiting from these value-added services. We’re pleased to say that is no longer the case.”

NCOALink processing, which compares list data to the weekly updated USPS® Change of Address (COA) database, is the industry’s leading method for proactively updating list data to account for moves. When used correctly this technology product satisfies Postal Service™ requirements for First-Class Mail® automation discounts, and its effects—improved deliverability, reduced Undeliverable-As-Addressed mail, and increased response rates—make NCOALink a worthwhile process for jobs in all mail classes.

BCC’s Suppression services, offered through a third-party provider, augment address cleansing by identifying records within a list that would be considered undesirable for most direct marketing efforts. Separate Suppression databases can be used to flag records matching addressees known to be deceased or who have registered on the Direct Marketing Association “Do Not Mail” list, among other criteria.

BCC Software has been non-exclusively certified by the United States Postal Service to offer two levels of NCOALink processing: Limited Service Provider (LSP), which accesses the most recent 18 months of COA data; and Full Service Provider (FSP), which accesses the full 48 months of available address-change information. The ability to provide these services in-house allows BCC to deliver same-day turnarounds for LSP or FSP processing. Jobs sent for NCOALink and Suppression processing, when received by BCC by no later than 5pm EST, can typically be electronically returned to the user by 9am EST the following business day.
