NJ Retailer Surprised By Name Calling Australian Mayor In Condomless Town

Edison NJ (USA)- The staff at the Playtime Boutique was shocked to learn on Wednesday, April 13th, that New South Wales Upper Hunter Mayor Barry Rose refused the shipment of condoms the Playtime staff donated to his town several weeks ago. “It’s a bit confusing” said Playtime’s Merchandise Manager, Mike Drake, “the week before last Mayor Rose told over 35 newspapers and websites that he had plans to distribute the condoms once they were received. I don’t have any idea why he changed his mind.” Playtime sales associate Heather Harkins is not only surprised but offended “The papers are reporting that Mayor Rose referred to us as “sleazy Americans”. I’d like to point out to him that while we were raising thousands of dollars for tsunami victims and organizing a food drive to feed hundreds of needy people here in NJ his town was allowing teen pregnancy to rise and STDs to spread. I really don’t see how that makes us “sleazy””. Sending free condoms to Australia does nothing to increase our business; we did it for humanitarian reasons. If Mayor Rose feels that it is “sleazy” for us to try to help people we have never met who are on the other side of the globe, well, I feel very sorry for him”. “We’ve received quite a few e-mails from Merriwa / New South Wales Upper Hunter, the overwhelming majority of them thanking us for our kindness” says Merchandise Manager Mike Drake, “We’ve had dozens of requests to send condoms to individuals in that region as well and are doing our best to fill those requests, despite the cost. If nothing else, the fact that people in his town have resorted to getting condoms from another country should tell Mayor Rose that he may need to stop calling people names and focus on helping his constituents.” “Noted author Gloria Brame commended our effort as did many news reports around the world.
