International Film Festival Returns to Springfield

The Missouri Film Alliance of Springfield is proud to present the “Show-Me” Missouri International Film Festival 2007.
This year’s festival will emphasize the art of short films, including the 2005 and 2006 Academy Award nominated shorts and short animated films. Don’t miss this opportunity to view a wide variety of the very best contemporary independent films being produced today along with the many workshops and parties that are the mainstay for any filmmaker or film fan. Please join us February 21-25, 2007 for this exciting event in downtown Springfield. Advance tickets will be available online at www.missourifilm.org by the beginning of February 2007.

The “Show-Me” Missouri International Film Festival Featured Filmmakers:

Brent Huff/Actor and Director
Brent Huff, a University of Missouri alum has worked as a leading man opposite such stars as Richard Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Ernest Borgnine, Brenda Blethn, Jeff Bridges, John Mellencamp, Julie Walters and Bill Cosby.
Huff also wrote and directed the drama, Welcome to Paradise. This uplifting inspirational film stars Brian Dennehy and Crystal Bernard. Welcome to Paradise screens at 7 pm on Friday at the Gillioz and at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Creamery.

Tom Seymour/Special Effects Pyrotechnician
Tom Seymour (from St. Louis) is a special effect Pyro-technician, special effects foreman & coordinator who has worked on Films such as Titanic, Lethal Weapon 4, The Mummy, Armageddon and Honey I blew up the Kid.
Tom’s work can also be seen on such Television series as Boston Legal, Medium and the Emmy winning Miniseries From the Earth to the Moon.
In 2006 Tom became the special effects foreman on the Justin Timberlake/ Bruce Willis thriller “Alpha Dog’” and joined the effects crew on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. He is currently working on the hit CBS series Jericho starring Skeet Ulrich.
Come hear him talk about the secrets of special effects as he screens examples from some of the blockbuster films he’s worked on. Tom Seymour will host a special effects forum at 4 pm on Friday at the Gillioz.

Drury Gunn Carr “Dru”/Producer Documentary Films
Carr, a native of Springfield, Missouri has worked as a co-director, producer, editor, and cinematographer with partner Doug Hawes-Davis for over ten years. Their non-profit film company, High Plains Films, has made over fifteen non-fiction films, including four feature length documentaries. Their films have been screened around the world and won several awards. Challenging in both form and content, their
work is intended to provide insight into the relationship between human society and the natural world.
In 2006, Carr and Hawes-Davis were the first recipients of the True West Visionary Award, which honors career achievement at the True/False West Film Festival. Their films include LIBBY, MONTANA (2005), which is scheduled to
air on the PBS series "P.O.V." in 2007. Libby, MT will screen at 2:45 pm on Saturday at the Gillioz.

Paul Crowder/Editor
Crowder was one of the original founding members of the band Floggin’ Molly. In 1995, Crowder parlayed his musical skills into a prolific career as an editor for broadcast television and commercials. He went on to edit over 50 episodes of VH1’s
“Behind the Music” and enjoyed much critical success after editing the popular theatrical documentaries “Dogtown and Z-Boys” and “Riding Giants”.

Paul Crowder’s latest film– “Once in a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos” is enjoying great critical acclaim nationwide. He's also currently at work as director/editor on a theatrical doc about “The Who” for Spitfire Pictures and Vh1 Films. Come meet and listen to the director and editor of Once in a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos, which screens at the Gillioz at 7:00 p.m on Saturday.

“Show-Me” Missouri International Film Festival is proud to announce a one night only appearance of Bryan “The Don” Martin, Rob “Hotwire” Richardson and CB “Roadblock” Grimes from the hit series Trick My Truck on Friday Feb 23rd at the Moxie Theatre!
Since its premiere Trick My Truck has been CMT’s “hit” television series raising the network’s primetime average by 111 percent; making Trick My Truck CMT’s (http://www.cmt.com) highest regularly scheduled series premiere ever.
The show features the Chrome Shop Mafia, (www.chromeshopmafia.com) a group of seven very unique semi truck mechanics who “steal” the rigs of unsuspecting down-on-their-luck truck drivers; the Mafia tricks out their trucks turning the drivers’ dreams into reality. Trick My Truck is filmed on location in Joplin, MO and just wrapped their second season successfully tricking out over 33 trucks for deserving drivers.
New episodes of Trick My Truck can be seen Friday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.

Ticket Costs:

Single Event Ticket: $7.50/show (adult), or $5.50 (children under 12, students with id’s, seniors over 60, MFAS members). Available at all venues.

Day Pass: $22.50 (see as many films and forums as you want). Available for Thursday/Friday (inclusive for both days), or Saturday.

All Screening Pass: $40 (see as many films and attend as many workshops as you want for the entire festival).

Full Festival Pass: $60 (see as many films and attend as many workshops as you want for the entire festival and also attend the Premiere Party and Oscar party)
