Richard Sayles Serves on Professional Panel with Federal Judge

DALLAS —— Sayles Werbner name partner Richard Sayles, together with Judge T. John Ward of the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, addressed a select group of attorneys on intellectual property litigation during an educational session at the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel’s winter meeting. The organization is comprised of chief intellectual property counsels of businesses operating worldwide and promotes education in the areas of intellectual property and patent litigation. Judge Ward and the Eastern District Federal courts are well known for significant decisions in patent law and a streamlined process for filing, developing and hearing patent cases. The session, part of a three-day program, was entitled “What to Expect When Litigating an IP Case in the Eastern District of Texas” and featured Mr. Sayles, Judge Ward and David Weinburg, a California-based jury consultant. The roundtable discussion panel was moderated by Dianne Elderkin, a Partner in the Philadelphia office of the law firm, Woodcock Washburn.

Mr. Sayles is a popular guest lecturer at local and national seminars and is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law. In 2006 Mr. Sayles was selected among the top ten lawyers in Texas in a survey of fellow practitioners published by Texas Monthly. He has tried to verdict more than 100 civil jury trials in three decades of trial practice, including intellectual property matters as well as disputes and claims involving corporate governance, securities law, and product liability.
