The Virtuous Women Interview Breast Cancer Survivor

Join Dr. Taffy Wagner and Ms. Bettye Jamerson, hosts of the Literary Corner podcast, on Monday February 5, 2007 as they have a candid interview with breast cancer survivor, Beverly Kirkhart.

Oftentimes women are told about performing the self-breast examination when they see their primary care physician. Beverly Kirkhart, having a history of breast cancer in her family performed these self-breast examinations. One of these times when she performs self-breast exams, she discovers a lump. She sees her physician, they do a biopsy and it is benign. Several months down the road, she discovers another lump and goes back to her physician. This time once the biopsy is done, she is told it is cancerous. Beverly’s path of having cancer begins.

Beverly shares how a caregiver was very instrumental in helping her deal with the emotions of knowing she had cancer. Beverly did not allow her illness to stop her from living life. You have to tune in to the literary corner to hear more of Beverly’s story.

Later in the show, Dr. Taffy and Bettye discuss the role of the caregiver and how they should also be given care.
