American Eagle and United Express Winners of 2005 O’Hare Fly Quiet Award

American Eagle and United Express were the co-winners of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission’s prestigious Fly Quiet Award for 2005. These airlines were recognized by the Commission for its sustained commitment to the Fly Quiet Program and its overall strong support of the ONCC during 2005.

The Fly Quiet Program began in 1997 and is designed to reduce nighttime aircraft noise over residential areas around O’Hare through the use of preferred departure runways and flight paths. In addition, the program encourages airlines to use the O’Hare Ground Runup Enclosure, which significantly reduces the impact of aircraft engine noise during the routine testing and maintenance that occurs primarily at night.

Representing United Express were Todd Arkenberg, Managing Director of United Express Performance; Bea Wiggins, Manager of the United Express Ramp and Customer Service Operations; and Dan Lynch, Government Affairs Coordinator. As Mr. Arkenberg commented: “We are proud of the recognition to our airline and our partner airlines for our contribution and commitment to noise reduction at the airport. The award is really a reflection of the ongoing commitment of the airlines, O’Hare officials and the community leaders of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission for their hard work and dedication.”

Accepting the 2005 award on behalf of American Eagle were Robert Luzynczyk, Assistant Chief Pilot, Gilbert Guzman, Regional Sales Manager, and Bill Hood, Managing Director of Corporate Affairs.

“All of the airlines based at O’Hare Airport have contributed to the O’Hare Fly Quiet Program’s workability and success,” said Mayor Mulder. “In 2005, American Eagle and United Express stood out from the others in all the categories used for determining the winner of the Fly Quiet Award.”
