MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL'S BIG PLAN FOR PUNE

Marriott International is making inroads into the new Indian business hub with huge expansion plans in Pune.Pune is an important industrial, educational and research center, hosting industries such as information technology, auto manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and cosmetics. The city boasts almost 500,000 domestic and international university level students.“It is gratifying to see our hotel portfolio in India continue to grow significantly, enabling Marriott to serve a variety of travel needs in this exciting country. We are equally heartened to be able to participate in the emergence of Pune as one of India’s premier cities,” said Ed Fuller, President and Managing Director of international lodging for Marriott International.
Marriott International plans a 153-room Courtyard by Marriott West Pune in the upper-moderate tier,scheduled to open in 2008.The JW Marriott Hotel Pune in the luxury tier is planned to open in 2009 with 250-room and a 430-room Pune Marriott Hotel & Convention Center in the upscale, deluxe tier scheduled to open in 2010
A local property development group is developing all three properties.
The Marriott International hotel portfolio in India is currently represented by the 358-room JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai, the 297-room Hyderabad Marriott Hotel, the 178-room Goa Marriott Resort Panjim, the 286-room Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre, the 177-room Lakeside Chalet Marriott Executive Apartments, and the 238-room Courtyard by Marriott Chennai.
Under construction are the 250-room JW Marriott Hotel Bangalore (2008), the 210-room Courtyard by Marriott Noida (mid-2008), the 199-room Courtyard by Marriott Gurgaon (mid-2008), the 250-room Courtyard by Marriott Kolkata (mid-2008), the 173-room Marriott Executive Apartments Gurgaon (2009) and the 193-room Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad (2009). Additionally, the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre is adding 271 rooms which are scheduled to open in late 2007.
