Lion Dancers Perform at Cher-Ae Heights Casino

Trinidad, California – Beginning Sunday, February 18th, Cher-Ae Heights Casino will be celebrating the Chinese New Year. Casino guests can take part in the Chinese New Year celebration and experience cultural entertainment.

This will be a celebration Filled with Chinese luck and Cash. The winners of the Cher-Ae Heights Casino Firecracker Hot Seat will select from various lai see red envelopes containing crisp cash prizes. Following the winning, will be traditional Chinese lion dancer performances. Once every hour on Monday, February 19, from 7pm-9pm, three lions will encourage good luck and ward off bad luck.

Lion dancing is traditionally performed at Chinese New Year celebrations. The 20 minute dance is very intricate and energetic. Performers run and pump the lion up and down in the air as they move, keeping careful time with the music and the surrounding dancers.
The dances will be performed by the Eastern Ways Lion Dance Team. The team performs across northern California and beyond. Exclusive to the area, Eastern Ways Martial Arts Schools is one of the only schools that perform lion dancing in the country, and the only school in the Sacramento area that practices this ancient art.
