MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Today, Minneapolis-based non-profit Treasured Chests announced proceeds from its Second Annual Fundraising Gala will benefit the HealthEast Breast Care Center, located in St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood. Held Feb. 22, 2007, at the Zuhrah Shrine Center, the annual gala is a stimulating cultural event that features local artists, models and musicians from the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. The HealthEast Breast Care Center is one of the only all-digital care centers in the Twin Cities and sees between 16,000-17,000 women annually for mammography and other diagnostic testing.
“HealthEast is truly part of the community, not only supporting cancer patients in the east-metro, but leading prevention efforts for the entire state,” said Kelly Moore, founder, Treasured Chests. “Treasured Chests is excited to be able to partner with HealthEast and St. John’s Hospital to further develop its treatment and prevention care services.”
Based in Maplewood, Minn., St. John’s Hospital is a member of the HealthEast Care System and has been serving the east-metro for nearly a century. Furthermore, the HealthEast Breast Care Center at St. John’s, established in 2000, has become a premier center for breast cancer detection, prevention and treatment within the Twin Cities.
“We are pleased to be a part of this year's Treasured Chests Gala and the recipient of this year's proceeds,” said Anita Eicher, R.T., radiology supervisor, HealthEast Breast Care Center at St. John's Hospital. “The money will likely go towards funding a second ultrasound machine that will help save women's lives.”
In 2006, the inaugural Treasured Chests Fundraising Gala proceeds were donated to a national breast cancer charity organization. This year, Treasured Chests hopes to help advance cancer research, prevention, treatment and diagnostics within Minnesota by donating the money to this local organization.
