Madison, WI — After the elections in Venezuela, last December 3rd, Hugo Chavez has declared major changes, mean while in the streets another discussion is taking place: how to respond the on going economical sabotage by the Venezuelan oppositionist employers.

Venezuela is still a very poor country with a 80% of poverty and a very high rate of employment. Latest research estimates that about 60% of Venezuelan depends on underground economy to make a living. Hands off Venezuela (HOV) will discuss in deep the new and energetic movement on workers fighting to occupy and co-manage the factories to keep them opened and defend the latest social changes in Venezuela.

The event will take place on February 3rd at the Escape Java Joint from 4PM. The event under the title of "FRETECO: Example of works control” is part of a series of discussions about Venezuela in 2007 every first Saturday at the Escape.

FRETECO or Revolutionary front of occupied and co-managed factories is a front of several occupied factories in Venezuela that is effectively connecting with similar movements in Brazil and Argentina. The event is designed to explore and distill the lessons that Venezuela offers U.S. activists in building a strong movement for social change here at home. Every first Saturday HOV will discuss different topics on Venezuela like the role of the media, co-managed factories, and quarterly reports.
