Philippine open source company GEN Automation Technologies started the year 2007 by operating under its new business name IPSYSTEMS Incorporated. “We are excited to announce our new company name,” said Ms. Patricia B. Celis, Vice-President. “If our clients were to compare the change to a software product, it would be similar to thinking of IPSYSTEMS as the better, more updated version of GEN Automation, loaded with new features and with better client support.”
“Customers can expect a wider range of products and services to be offered by the company. For example, we will soon be launching a new anti-spam product, which we have extensively tested. We have added more personnel to our technical support team in order to better assist clients and to answer their concerns faster. There are also possible plans of becoming the Philippine distributor of an emerging and promising antivirus software. Finally, clients who are availing of our Linux server rentals can look forward to hardware and software upgrades, which are currently being scheduled,” she added.
The company has been in operation since 1998, and has continued to offer their main business of providing rental and lease-to-own corporate servers to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). All of the servers being offered are running on open source software, which is a collaborative way of developing software without the need of licenses, as opposed to proprietary ones.
“IPSYSTEMS will continue GEN Automation’s mission to offer the “Open Source advantage” to SMEs, and to continue educating and informing how open source can help small businesses become more competitive with the use of information technology,” said Ms. Celis.
