Draft Bloomberg Committee Launched by Virginia Political Team

The Committee to Draft Michael Bloomberg for President announces launches their website (www.DraftMichael.com) and puts out a call for candidates. Write Consult LLC has taken on the task of directing the Committee to Draft Michael Bloomberg for President as a vehicle to promote Independent candidates for offices all over the U.S. in 2007. Their extended mission is to recruit solid independent candidates to run for the House and Senate in 2008.

Joseph Oddo, the National Director for the Draft Committee states, “This is the momentum that will finally elect a credible and capable ‘Independent’ chief executive to the White House in 2008”.

He reminds us that against all odds, Independents made the ballots and influenced the outcome of dozens of races in the U.S., “likely tipping the balance of power in the Senate in 2006”. He announces the launch of the DraftMichael.com website to “expand on that momentum and keep the Independent movement growing.

“We have added a blog, a yahoo group, an informal poll, and a petition calling for standardized ballot access requirements for federal office. Plus we are announcing an essay contest to challenge Americans to answer ‘Why America Needs an Independent President’.”

The next phase of his mission is to build the grassroots network to turn Independent and swing voters toward a viable alternative in November 2008. Joseph Oddo – twice a candidate for Congress – will be giving workshops to assist and train candidates to run for office as Independents all over the country.

“Our citizens have to become more than just the primary financiers of political reform. We have to lead by example. We can take action against apathy by getting ordinary citizens on the ballot to advocate for better government and true fiscal responsibility.”

Joseph was born in Pittsburgh (1958) and has alternated between managing retail sales organizations and political campaigns since 1978. He ran for Congress as an Independent in 2004 & 2006. Before that he co-founded the Independent Greens of Virginia (www.VoteJoinRun.us) to organize, coordinate and recruit candidates for office all across Virginia. In 2004, he served as Eastern Coordinator for Kent Mesplay vying for the Green Party presidential nomination. Oddo earned a Public Policy degree from Penn State Harrisburg in 1984. He is married and father to two children under 10. He resides in Springfield, Virginia.
