The social networking website is open to all forms of entertainment and music, but is focused more on hip-hop, r&b, and urban gospel. "We are extremely excited to be a part of helping discover and break new talent through Urban-City, which give those indie artist that's not located in NY or LA a chance at stardom," said K.Blake, Urban-city's founder and CEO. "We are hoping to secure major funding, so that we are able to provide more innovative web tools and opportunities to give our members maximum exposure."
J. Simmons, VP of business development, Urban-City.net said "Within the next couple of months, members will be able to sell their music through mp3 downloads on their Urban-City.net page. "Which gives them the opportunity to take their budding careers to the next level, without dealing with the politics of traditional distribution."
The site is also integrated with other social networks and third-party content providers like Flickr and YouTube in order to give users access to both widely popular and exclusive content.
