ArcaMax Celebrates National Book Month

January is National Book Month, and ArcaMax Publishing is helping avid readers celebrate by offering free books and fresh content in the ArcaMax Book Club.

Readers around the world have been enjoying reading the easy access ArcaMax provides with their Book Club for over a year. The family-friendly news and entertainment site launched its library of more than 600 free classic novels in December 2006 ( http://www.arcamax.com/books ), and has since added more book-related content for reading enthusiasts.

ArcaMax Managing Editor Hugh Spain started the Book Club with busy readers in mind. "Subscribers can read one chapter a day of their favorite classic novel by e-mail. The most innovative part is a feature that allows people to read at their own pace, and move their 'bookmark' if they fall behind or read ahead on the site."

Over the past year, the Book Club has grown into a vast resource of literary information, featuring a weekly newsletter with trivia and quotes, a database with information on 100 classic authors, and interactive quizzes to test readers' "book smarts." Recently, daily book reviews from the Washington Post joined the feature, also available in a free ezine (e-mail newsletter) format.

For National Book Month, ArcaMax has added even more special features, including editor's picks, special interactive games and quizzes, and resources for instilling a love of reading in children. In the future, ArcaMax will be launching a community as part of the Book Club, offering a place for readers to discuss their favorite books and authors with each other.

"National Book Month is a great excuse for people to finally pick up — or subscribe to — a book they might have been putting off reading,"Spain says of the feature. "And once January is over, there will still be plenty of things in the Book Club for readers to discover."

The Book Club is one of more than 60 free features available from ArcaMax Publishing, including travel tips, dozens of comics including "Garfield" and "Blondie," and daily games and puzzles. For more information or to subscribe, visit http://www.arcamax.com/cgi-bin/reg .
