The 2006 L. Ron Hubbard Explorers Award is being presented to Northern Arizona University graduate student, J. Judson Wynne, M.S., project leader of a cave ecology study and the NASA Earth-Mars Cave Thermographic Detection Program (remote sensing of caves using thermographic techniques.)

This award acknowledges Mr. Wynne’s fieldwork in Astrobiology and Cave Ecology to determine the feasibility of identifying caves using thermal-remote-sensing techniques for future Mars missions.

Murray Marvin, Director of the L. Ron Hubbard Explorer’s Award program, said, “The Selection Board sincerely hopes this grant will help Mr. Wynne advance his scientific study of both terrestrial and celestial phenomena and further his career. He exemplifies the spirit of exploration and scientific discipline envisioned by explorer, scientist and writer L. Ron Hubbard. Exploration such as this will bring new horizons and help enhance the heritage of diverse civilizations.”

This annual grant is presented by the Friends of L. Ron Hubbard Foundation to encourage exploration of new lands, realms and horizons while preserving the environment for the future; and to do so with the intention to eliminate war, crime and insanity. The Foundation has established a Selection Board of scientists and explorers, who review applications, make recommendations for the financial award and encourage all applicants to explore the world around them. Applicants should request guidelines from The Friends of L. Ron Hubbard Foundation at 349 W. 48th Street in New York, NY 10021, (212)246-4836 or Murray Marvin at mmarvin@earthlink.net
