(SAVANNAH) Who knew your yard had so much potential? A free evening lecture by an award-winning author will teach you how to build a lush, edible backyard ecosystem, improve your own and your planet's health, create an elegant and functional home landscape, and fight global climate change. Two one-day workshops will explore the topic more fully.Dave Jacke, award-winning author of "Edible Forest Gardens", will be the speaker for the "Gardening Like the Forest" lecture and workshop series. In the free lecture, Jacke will explain how you can create a backyard ecosystem that grows food but that largely maintains, fertilizes, and renews itself, like a healthy forest. The free lecture will be Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. at Jewish Educational Alliance. Jacke will also discuss Fundamentals of Forest Garden Design in detail at the Saturday workshop on Jan. 27. In Remaking Eden: EcoDesign and Spiritual Practice on Jan. 28, Jacke will explore how forest gardening can have both a spiritual and practical effect on us.
