New Hypnosis Practice Group Will Benefit Public and Profession

Post Falls, Idaho, January 15, 2007— A new hypnosis practice group is forming for hypnosis practitioners in North Idaho and Eastern Washington. Hypnosis practice groups benefit both those in the hypnosis profession and members of the public. The practice groups provides a setting for individuals with various levels training and/or education in hypnosis to practice their skills, or research theories, using willing volunteers from the group. The group also permits individuals that are not practitioners to act as volunteers for other member of the group. Volunteers receive free hypnosis treatment for whatever issue they present. "The value of these groups is that practitioners can learn from each and when necessary challenge each other." Say John Lundholm the organizer of this group. " Additionally, when these groups include healthcare professionals, such as licensed Therapists, Psychologists, Nurses, or Physicians medical issues that might be missed by a hypnotist without such a background can be addressed."
"Twenty five years ago I was earning my masters degree in counseling psychology my professor advised me not to waste my time studying hypnosis. In fact, no such study was available at the university I was attending. Rather than follow the professor's advice I sought training outside of my degree program. Very little was available. Fortunately I found a practicing psychologist willing to train me and a group of fellow students. My training was only open to those in a graduate program, and involved six months of education and practice," reports Lundholm, "Today there are organizations that will certify people with no psychology or medical education after a weekend training program. And that is a great disservice to the public."
Today there are numerous options for someone wanting to learn hypnosis. As the interest in hypnosis grows so do the options for obtaining training in hypnosis. Unfortunately there is little consistency in the quality of training programs and what it means to be "certified" as a hypnotist. Hypnosis study groups raise the level of competence of every participant. This new study group will serve those in the North Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Western Montana region, although interested person from out of the area are welcome to access files on the group's website.
The first meeting is scheduled for January 25th. The meeting place will be determined based on the number expressing interest. Information on the Inland Northwest Hypnosis Practice Group, and Practice Groups in general is available on Lundholm's website: www.ChangeDynamics.net.
