DCC ARCHITECTS REACHES MILESTONE

LAS VEGAS, NV – From creating innovative designs that are environmentally friendly to collaborating closely with clients to bring those designs to life, DCC architects has been putting its distinctive stamp on the Las Vegas Valley since 1970. DCC’s vast experience in architecture, interior design and land planning has been a catalyst in major projects that include office, commercial, industrial, educational and civic projects.
The guiding force behind DCC is founder Domingo Cambeiro AIA, LEED AP, who came to the U.S. with his family in 1962 from Cuba to pursue the American dream, and was passing through Las Vegas on the way to Los Angeles when he discovered the myriad opportunities that existed for architects in the city. Dom partnered with his brother in 1970 to open Cambeiro & Cambeiro, which focused on civic and educational facilities. In 1985, Dom decided to embark on his own and Domingo Cambeiro Corporation, now known as DCC architects was born. Under Dom’s energetic and inspirational leadership, the practice grew to include a broad-base of clients in the private and public sector.
Since then, the firm has increased five-fold. By presently remaining a mid-sized firm, Dom is able to maintain a personal involvement with every project and is able to uphold the firm’s commitment to exceptional client service.

DCC has completed many school projects, including over 120 projects for the Clark County School District. DCC architects is the architect of record for the 1984, 1985, 1988, 1994 and 1998 Clark County School District elementary school prototypes, from which 78 resites have been built. Cambeiro worked extensively with the school district and extended community to design a facility tailored to the district’s program needs and budget, and created flexible, futuristic designs that were embraced by the School District for years and set the standard for prototypical elementary school design for many years.
The DCC stamp can also be found on institutions of higher learning, such as the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where the Thomas and Mack Sports Arena which originally was transformed from a basketball venue into a special events center. The firm also designed Henderson Campus Building “C” Computer & Science Labs and Classrooms at the Community College of Southern Nevada, for which it won the Education Design Showcase Award in 2000 for Outstanding Architecture and Design in Education.
DCC is also a leader in public works. Projects have included the 385,000 sq. ft. Clark County Government Center in association with FB architects, the Las Vegas Convention Center South, Northwest and Central expansions, the two-story Clark County Sanitation District Office building; phases 1 and 2 of the Las Vegas Detention Facility, a medium custody facility for up to 500 inmates; and the City of North Las Vegas Judicial Complex. Additionally, the firm has completed a number of projects at McCarran International Airport, ranging from Terminal C to the International Arrival Facility to parking structures and other expansion, remodels and additions to various terminals and concourses. Current projects include a new elementary school prototype and a new middle school prototype, the CCSN New Library/Classroom Building at Charleston Campus, Blue Sphere Office Building on Tropicana Avenue and Villa Latina mixed-use project on Boulder Highway.
