Texas Drug and Alcohol Recovery Center to Double Bed Capacity Following Surge of Occupancy

The Mark Houston Recovery Center has been heralded by professionals in addiction recovery as revolutionary, and residents seem to agree. Just 120 days after the doors of the Mark Houston Recovery Center opened last July, the 20 bed center was completely booked. Now at their 6 month anniversary, while the drug and alcohol addiction recovery center is graduating its second group of residents, President Mark Houston has announced that the Center will be doubling in size next month. The new facility will consist of 2 buildings totaling 4,500 square feet and is located in the quiet, serene hill country just outside of Austin and across the street from the center’s original facility. Like the current Center, the new facilities are Texas ranch-style homes with gym, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor barbeque, and other amenities that provide more of a family home atmosphere than that of a clinical facility. Here, residents will spend 90 days undergoing a life transformation based upon a revolutionary approach to the 12 steps to recovery program.
Though the 2 drug and alcohol recovery centers will be located in close proximity and will offer the same program schedule, each will operate independently. “We want the programs to remain small. We’ve found that smaller groups of between 20 and 22 men are most conducive to the type of spiritual work we’re doing here. This way no one falls through the cracks and individuals receive the personalized attention they need to complete the healing process.” says Houston.
Unlike a clinical care facility, the Mark Houston Recovery Center offers a more intimate teaching of the 12-step program. Within the boundaries of the facility, which feels more like a safe and tranquil home as opposed to a clinic, the men are able live out the practices of the 12 steps day and night for a full 3 months.
“These revolutionary ideas are certainly working. We continue to graduate men and send them back to their families healthy and full of self esteem and authenticity. By increasing our capacity, we look forward to giving more men the opportunity to regain their lives.”
Houston expects to open the doors to the new facility in mid February. The Mark Houston Recovery Center is currently accepting inquiries from those for whom a longer term continuum of care has been recommended or those who have relapsed after a traditional treatment program and are committed to achieving a sober, more joyful life.
