Canada-China Talent Exchange is the New Currency for Economic Growth
January 09, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Richmond, BC – According to HRSDC, there are 129 occupations in BC and 165 occupations in Alberta are experiencing serious labor shortage and pressure. Many occupations are in business, natural science and engineering, trade and construction and health care sectors. The contributing factors for labor shortage include: many baby boomers are retiring within the next 10 years, young generation are not trained to equip these occupations, and Canadian economy is booming on the West Coast. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has recently announced a new process to speed up work permit application for all temporary foreign workers coming to Canada. A new type of HR agency is born in Canada. It is strategically positioned for solving this unique labor problem by promoting talent exchange between Canada and China. Global Talent Management Services, Inc. is founded by Dr. Vivian Lee, a Canadian citizen from Hong Kong, and Mr. William He, a new Canadian citizen from Mainland China. Dr. Vivian Lee has a PhD in Organizational Management, a MBA in Marketing and specialized training in Cross-Cultural Communication. Mr. William He is a seasoned business professional who has a network of contacts in government agencies, universities and private sectors in China. With complementary skill sets, they team up to establish this new human resources management company helping Canadian companies to hire foreign workers from China. Dr. Vivian Lee believes that “Managing talent inflows and outflows becomes a new currency for organizational success and Canada’s economic and social development.”
For talent inflows, Canada can import temporary foreign skilled workers to relief and solve labor shortage problem. Canada has about 32.6 million in population, 6.3% unemployment rate, and a GDP of -0.3% as of September 2006, as published on Statistics Canada website. China has 1.3 billion in population, unemployment rate between 9 to 20%, and a GDP of 10.2% as of 2005. Even though Canada is importing just 0.001% of this Chinese population, Canada will still gain 1.3 million of new skilled workers with temporary or permanent work permits in the next 10 years. Global Talent MSI’s goal is helping many corporate headquarters, professional associations or trade organizations to design special training and recruitment program. Global Talent MSI also provides the option of delivering cross-cultural communication training for existing staff and new foreign workers to ensure a smooth transition.
For talent outflows, Global Talent MSI has goals to export English-speaking business trainers, school teachers or university students to educate the vast population in China and other Asian countries. Executives, managers, and university or college students are hungry for Western business principles, management systems, and cultural practice. After they have learned new concepts and ideas from English-speaking trainer, they will have many opportunities to apply in real life and help their countries to develop economically and grow socially. Global Talent MSI is promoting Canada as a friendly nation with infinite possibilities to build long-term business relationship with many Asian countries for future trade and investment opportunities in the future.
Therefore, Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs, like Dr. Lee and Mr. He, are turning urging problems into attractive opportunities, bridging the social gap, solving new economic crisis, and fulfilling new market demands between Canada and China. Talent exchange is indeed a new economic currency to success.
