Copywriter From India Is World’s Worst Call Center Worker

Jan. 5, 2007 — Everyone hates telemarketers but for Sunil Shibad, copywriter and brand strategist with The Flea Advertising and Marketing in India, it was turning out to be a cause for embarrassment.“I call clients and associates around the world and I am often mistaken for a call center worker from India. Nothing could be more frustrating than having the phone slammed on you before I could get a word in”, says Sunil Shibad.

Within a few months, he had got top rankings on Google and Yahoo for the search term “world’s worst call center worker”.
“It’s sad today an Indian accent is associated with pesky telemarketers. I hope this will change the stereotypical image of Indians as call center worker. We have a lot more to offer in terms of graphic design, creative services and marketing communication. We have ayurveda, yoga, great cuisine, Bollywood and lots more than outsourcing”, adds Mr Shibad.
