Survey Indicates Growth For Triangle Businesses

RALEIGH, N.C. – Brooks Savage, CEO of The Executive Staffing Group (ESG), a firm specializing in strategic staffing, human resources, payroll services, and training, has announced that a recent survey conducted by ESG suggests that Triangle businesses are expecting significant employment growth in 2007. The Economic Survey was intended to measure the economic outlook for the area. Of the 75 Triangle companies surveyed, 73% indicated an expected increase in hiring.

Survey results include the following:
· 34% of Triangle companies expect a 1%-3% increase in employment.
· 20% expect a 10%-20% increase.
· 19% expect a 5%-10% increase.
· 27% do not expect to hire in 2007.

The survey results correlate with recent unemployment figures for the Triangle in December. The Triangle Business Journal reported that both the Raleigh-Cary MSA (comprised of Wake, Johnston and Franklin counties) and the Durham MSA (comprised of Durham, Orange, Chatham and Person counties) remained the same in September and October and below the state and national unemployment rate. The News & Observer reported that “The Triangle has done better than many regions of the country. Population growth has attracted new employers and kept job growth strong. Employment increased by about 5 percent since last year and unemployment remains less than the state and national averages.”

The Executive Staffing Group conducted the survey via email and phone from Dec. 4–8, 2006.
