XPS file format – new reality of Windows Vista
December 15, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
The majority of software experts predict that the XPS (XML Paper Specification) format, a component of Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), will provide the ideal tool for storing, displaying and publishing data from WPF applications. XPS is designed for fulfilling the same task as PDF: to display a document in the same way across the machines independently from the software installed. This format does not require the installation of additional components, for example fonts. At the same time, a developer who uses this format can be sure that an end user will get a document in the way it has been designed and besides, it is not possible to copy or edit data by a user.XPS file format is actually a subset of XAML (Extensible Application Markup Language) which is marketed by Microsoft as a new standard for defining the layout of a document using a mark-up language, and widely used in WPF for the creation of user interfaces.
