The United States Federation for Middle East Peace (USFMEP) condemns in the strongest terms the assassination of the Lebanese Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel at Martyrs square in Beirut, Lebanon on Wednesday, November 22, 2006.
Increasing tension and continued violence in Lebanon threaten to destabilize the Lebanese political system. The US Federation for Middle East Peace call on the United Nations and the international community as a whole to take strong action to find and prosecute the killers of Lebanese leaders and to help bring about national reconciliation, between the Lebanese people.

USFMEP President Sally Kader offers her deepest condolences and sympathy to the deceased's wife, family, the Lebanese people and the broader Arab world. USFMEP members in the United States and around the world share their sorrow and grief at this ruthless and cruel crime.
