Washington DC December 10 2006—Local author and poet Odessa Maxwell will be signing copies of her book, Thoughts of My Mind, Heart, and Soul, on December 15, 2006 from 6pm until 8pm at DC Bookman Lounge. DC Bookman Lounge is located at 3705 Rhode Island Avenue, Mount Rainier, Maryland. Thoughts of My Mind, Heart, and Soul is a compilation of Odessa Maxwell’s poems and photographs that convey inspiration, healing, hope and raw true emotions. Her topics of patriotism, desire, faith, and belief capture the everyday world and situations that we live in. Also, her photos encapsulate the surrounding beauty of life and living, which in fleeting moment, is missed by many. A poignant book that rediscovers what it means to be human, man, woman, American, and/or a Soldier.
Included in this menagerie of poems and photos is previously published “Brilliant Beautiful Ebony Blue” recognized in The Best Poems & Poets of 2005 anthology. Included it is the photograph that inspired this expressive poem which is dedicated to beautiful memories created. "Beautiful, Woman, Thou Art" was chosen as the Academy Women 3rd Annual Symposium "Leading From All Fronts" theme supported poem for 2006. “Didn’t Get a Chance” was awarded the Editor’s Choice Award and was selected as one of 33 other poems to be recorded on the “Sound of Poetry” CD set. This is just a small sampling of what is hidden in this intimate anthology.
Currently, Maxwell is working on her next two poetry anthologies that are tentatively named: For the Red, White, and Blue: Poetry for Military Men and Women, Veterans, and Their Supporters; and Why Should I Pray?

About the Author
Odessa Maxwell, a graduate of the United States Military Academy Class of 1994, has many intriguing accomplishments that are not all known except by those close to her. Compiling and writing her first book of poetry and photography is just another achievement that has been deeply rooted in her. Maxwell has recently achieved an Executive MBA from Colorado Technical University, is owner and handler for 4 AKC and NAKC registered Chinese Crested dogs, and enjoys spending time with her three children in Maryland.
