Learning Light (LL), the non-profit centre of excellence which highlights and promotes best practice in the use of learning technologies in the workplace, has expanded its team by appointing:• Wendy Weller-Davies, who has joined LL’s Professional Services team as a project director. Weller-Davies has been in the learning technologies business for over 16 years and is a well respected member of the e-learning community.
She started out as an instructional designer for System Applied Technology in Sheffield, followed by fulfilling project manager, projects director and account director roles for Act E-Learning and, latterly, for the global e-learning producer, Tata Interactive Systems.
• Celia Richardson and Debbie Carlton as research associates, specialising in the health and defence sectors respectively.
Richardson has spent some ten years in learning and design, working with organisations including the University of London, INSEAD in France, the Department of Health, Lloyd’s and Hiscox (the City-based insurance house). In addition, she holds a Doctorate from the University of Toronto, Canada, for her work on the impact of technology in education.
Carlton, who has a background in engineering and holds an MBA from Henley Management College, has also spent some ten years working on learning and performance issues, mainly within the government sector, including the military and emergency services. She has also worked on knowledge flow issues for Reuters and runs the Dynamic Knowledge consultancy.
According to Mark Pittaway, LL’s CEO: “Celia and Debbie will be looking at the dynamics of change within those sectors; identifying the factors that are driving that change, and developing sector specific maturity and best practice models. These models will help organisations in these sectors identify how learning technologies can be effectively deployed in supporting their future learning needs”
• Jenny Pang as its marketing manager. A marketing specialist for the last seven years, Pang has working in business to business marketing in telecomms and software industries. Her most recent post before joining LL was with the software company, SEAMS.
