Wheat Ridge, CO (PRLEAP) December 9, 2006 – Lifeloc Technologies (www.lifeloc.com), the industry leader in alcohol testing equipment and training, announces its involvement in the National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month this December. Lifeloc Technologies’ Fuel Cell Based Breathalyzers are high-quality, precision instruments that aid law enforcement in reducing the number of drunk drivers on the roads.

The holiday season is known as one of the deadliest times of the year on the nation's highways, and impaired driving is a big part of the problem. To help make this year safer, alcohol testing equipment manufacturer Lifeloc Technologies has joined government agencies, private organizations and industries to support December as National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month and to call for stronger policies and programs to prevent impaired driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 39% of all traffic deaths last year in the US were alcohol-related. Furthermore, a majority of impaired drivers go undetected. To save lives and decrease alcohol related-fatal crashes, Lifeloc Technologies’ fast and accurate Fuel Cell Based Breathalyzers are used by many law enforcement agencies on the roads and at sobriety checkpoints. These prevention methods are known to significantly decrease the amount of fatal crashes involving alcohol.

“The statistics are truly staggering, and should demand more urgent attention to the problem of drunk driving,” states Amy Evans, Lifeloc’s Training Manager. “For example, while nearly 1.4 million drivers were arrested for DUI in 2005, all of those arrests represent less than 1% of the total number of episodes of alcohol-impaired driving actually occurring.”
