Rotary and Rotaract of Belmopan Joins Force to Collect Toys for Kids

Throughout this and every holiday season there are some children that are not fortunate enough to receive gifts during Christmas. The Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Belmopan are inviting the entire Belmopan community to collect toys so that all children in Belmopan have a chance for a merrier Christmas.

For two years now Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Belmopan have sponsored a “Hill of Toys” campaign to gather toys for children in this area. Last year over 2,000 toys were donated by the generous citizens of Belmopan. We are hoping that this year that even more toys can be collected!

To make the process of donation as easy as possible there are several places and times that donations will be accepted. First, there are various organizations in Belmopan that have been kind enough to place a donation box onsite. These organizations are:

A & R Store
Alliance Bank
Atlantic Bank
Builders Hardware
Buca Services
Dakers
First Caribbean Bank
Galen University

Donation boxes will be at these locations until the 15th of December and available during standard business hours.

Another place that toys will be collected is Saturday, December 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Independence Plaza. During this time a “Hill of Toys” will be created on the steps of the plaza and the ScotiaBank Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held. It will be fun for the whole family and provide an opportunity to see the growing pile of toys collected at that point of the campaign.

Finally, on Sunday, December 17 at 6 pm there will be a parade through the streets of Belmopan. Toys will continue to be collected at this time and after the parade the toys will be delivered to children in the Belmopan area.

The Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Belmopan encourage everyone to participate so that every child in this area has a chance for a happier holiday season.
