Emerson College welcomes renowned author Nancy Mellon for a six week exploration of Storytelling as a Healing Art.“Storytelling can heal the soul through exploring the body! The connections between the body and stories are fascinating!” says Nancy Mellon, author of ‘Storytelling and the Art of Imagination’.“ The heart, liver, kidneys and lungs play their part in the body’s harmony like instruments in an orchestra. Stories release the natural energies of our organs! Fusing the medical wisdom of Eastern and Western traditions with recent discoveries in energy psychology creates a powerful new set of tools for storytellers and healing professionals.”
Ashley Ramsden affirms, “Stories are essential! Each of us is the hero or heroine in the story of our life; facing challenges, falling in love, overcoming obstacles and living to tell the tale. In this six week course, Nancy and I are delighted to bring the new discoveries featured in our forthcoming book.”
Donna Eden, author of ‘Energy Medicine’ and co-author of ‘The Promise of Energy Psychology’ says, “This is a book about your soul, the myths that can give your soul profound guidance. I know a lot about the body's energies. I doubt that they’ve been more vividly or informatively described.”
Ashley Ramsden, Founder and Director of The School of Storytelling explains, “We encourage students to develop their own distinctive telling style in an inspiring community atmosphere set in beautiful countryside. The school enables students to connect to their body’s natural wisdom and offers new insights for anyone passionate about storytelling and the healing arts.”
School of Storytelling Graduate Maryse Arnold: “It’s so jam-packed with teachings and opportunities to tell stories and the teachers are so inspiring, such high quality. Emerson is a little paradise on Earth, and very inspiring for your work. I’ve made so many friends here.”
The pioneering School of Storytelling celebrates the spoken word and the oral tradition of passing down stories. “The aim is to keep alive the role of the storyteller within schools, business, theatres, cafés and at home. The telling of stories is a powerful medium that brings a healthy balance to the steadily developing culture of digital communication,” says Ashley Ramsden.
“…brilliantly insightful, inspiring, a practical new approach to the subject of stories and storytelling and what they can do for the health of mind and body.” Jenny Pearson, psychotherapist and author.
This unique course “Storytelling – The Eloquence of the Body” begins on February 12th for six weeks through to 23rd March 2007 at Emerson College, a centre for adult education based on the work of Rudolf Steiner.
