Fort Lauderdale, October 2006: Frightening visions of vampires have interrupted the dreams of many ever since "Drac" first bared his bloody fangs in 1819. Since then we've noted stories of every possible type of vampire: Terrifying, sexy, comedic, as well as plainly ridiculous. However, Richard Tortorici has created a society of these creatures who seem to peacefully coexist with humans in our modern world, and because of it, his book, Blood Relative, is all the more enthralling. Blood Relative is the spellbinding tale that redefines and humanizes vampires. Reclusive Nightwalker, Frank Baron – a homicide detective with the NYPD – lives life according to the codes of the secret organiza-tion that watches over his kind: feeding only on the blood of the scourge of mankind.
But when a string of young, innocent women are murdered, Frank discovers that a rogue Nightwalker has invaded the Big Apple and threatens to expose the vampires and their secret organization. Now Frank and his partner, Cassie Weathers, must follow the trail of terror to stop the carnage, while keeping the exis-tence of Nightwalkers hidden from the rest of the world. Before long, it’s clear they’re both in more danger than they could have imagined.
