Participates In My Home: The American Dream Contest
Local Real Estate Firm Involved In National Contest For Students Grades K-8
RALEIGH, N.C. – Don Walston, president and CEO of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston, a Raleigh-based real estate firm, has announced that the company will participate in the second annual national Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation “My Home: The American Dream Contest,” where students in grades K-8 explain through images or words how they make where they live – houses, apartments, condos or other living spaces – home. Entries may be submitted as a short film on DVD or VHS; a storyboard, comic book or series of photographs with text; or an essay accompanied by illustrations. Coldwell Banker is holding the contest in collaboration with Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company.
The contest is open to residents of the United States who currently attend grades K-8 as well as children in those age ranges who are home schooled. Three grand prize-winning students will receive $2,000 cash prizes awarded for excellence in creativity and innovation. Fifty finalists will be awarded $100 prizes. Teachers of each grand prize-winning student will receive a new digital video camera for their classrooms. All entries must be postmarked by Dec. 1. “Coats for Kids is an enormously effective local charity benefiting children who are less fortunate as cold weather approaches,” said David Jones, COO of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston. “We are pleased that we can be of service to the community by encouraging our contacts to take part in this worthy effort.”
