Warrington, UK, 23 November 2006: Managing security services provider and Information Assurance specialist Vistorm today announced its involvement in the 2006 update of the SANS Top 20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities, this year called the Top 20 Attack Targets. The updated list was released last week under the auspices of the NISCC (national critical infrastructure co-ordination team). Vistorm is accredited for contributions from technical architects, Dr Rhodri Davies and Rob Baskerville, confirming Vistorm’s depth and breadth of experience in IT security and Information Assurance.
The SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute was established in 1989, and is the most trusted and largest source for information security training and certification in the world. Its programmes reach more than 165,000 security professionals around the world.
The SANS Top 20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities highlights the most significant threats that an organisation faces, and illustrates the weaknesses that are currently being exploited to extract sensitive and valuable information and to extort money. The update comes during an increase in computer crime and also highlights vulnerabilities being used to penetrate British, US and Canadian military, government and contractor sites.
Darron Antill, general manager, sales and marketing, Vistorm commented: “It is a great privilege to have been able to contribute to the SANS 2006 update to the top 20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities and testimony to Vistorm’s positioning as a leading security specialist.”
