GN Netcom supports Acoustic Safety Programme
November 23, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
GN Netcom is pleased to announce that it will take part in the UK’s first independ-ent telephony equipment testing programme to focus on the health and safety risks associated with exposure to noise via telephone systems. The testing and research programme is a public-private funded joint venture between the Acoustic Safety Programme (ASP) and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), which aims to help call centre and office employers protect their staff from the causes and symptoms of Noise Interference and Acoustic Shock.
The Programme objectives are supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the Call Centre Management Association (CCMA) and the Communication Workers Union (CWU). The results of the first phase of laboratory tests on headsets and in-line devices will be announced in November 2006 and will be available via the Acoustic Safety Programme web site from December onwards.
Jan McNair, GN Netcom’s Managing Director comments:
“GN Netcom has a heritage based on acoustic safety and noise protection which is fundamental to our design philosophy. We have developed our own PeakStop™ technology to improve protection against acoustic shock while providing headset comfort and sound quality in the call centre and office environments.
“We have a responsibility to help our customers comply with the latest legislation, while offering maximum protection to their employees. We therefore welcome the ASP initiative and will continue to work in partnership with them to ensure our products deliver the highest standards of shock protection.”
GN Netcom will be Platinum sponsors of ASP’s annual conference with BT, which will be held in Glasgow on 27th and 28th November.
