Lingerie Model Photography (LMP, http://www.sexy-lingerie-models.org ) has published “History of Lingerie”. This article focuses on the dramatic development of lingerie fashions and styles from the 1800s until today. The article is documented with historic and vintage photos and advertisements. Lingerie tells a great deal about the culture and the times. The clothes that we wear closest to our bodies tell a lot about the way we think and the values and ideas that are important to us. A look at vintage lingerie reminds us that functionality and not sensuality was important in the times of our ancestors. It is noted that “your grandmother would probably never combine the word sexy and lingerie in the same sentence.”
Included in the article is a review of the development of the women’s brassiere. There is a great deal of controversy surrounding who invented the woman’s brassiere with most experts crediting Mary Phelps Jacob as being the creator of this invention. The article reviews the patent submissions of four likely inventors, including the actual patent of Mary Jacob. It takes the position that it was not Jacob who invented the brassiere, but rather Olivia P. Flynt.
In addition to the history of the brassiere, the article reviews the development in corset, girdle, panties and pantyhose. To view the article “History of Lingerie” click here: http://www.sexy-lingerie-models.org/historyoflingerie.htm
