Prudential Gary Greene honors fallen HPD officer

HOUSTON, TX. - Realtors from the Woodforest and Northeast offices of Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors joined forces in a fundraising effort for the family of Houston Police Officer Rodney Johnson, who was killed in the line of duty September 21st of this year. The October 28th tribute raised over $5,000 for his wife and five children.

"Several of our agents are close to members of the Houston Police Department," said Cathy Trevino, manager of Prudential Gary Greene's Woodforest and Northeast offices. "Our offices worked with HPD and Officer Johnson's family to create the event."

In addition to cash donations, activities included a garage sale, bake sale and the sale of barbecue plates. HPD personnel helped coordinate the event, handled security and provided traffic control.

"Officer Johnson's widow, Joslyn, who is also a member of the Houston Police Department, attended the event, along with his mother, Cynthia, and several of the Johnson children," said Trevino. "It was a very emotional experience."

Officer Rodney Johnson was the recipient of two Lifesaving Awards and a Medal of Valor from the State of Texas and was a respected member of the HPD force.

Joslyn and Cynthia Johnson expressed appreciation to Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors for their efforts. "What these people are doing here to help his children - I deeply respect that and thank God for them," said Cynthia Johnson.

"I'm proud of Prudential Gary Greene's effort to support Officer Johnson's family," Trevino said. "We're all part of the Houston community, and it's important we acknowledge the sacrifices of those who serve and protect us."
