Boston, MA – November 16, 2006 – RadioSherpa, a company that is developing new applications for Internet and HD Radio, announced today the release of its website (www.radiosherpa.com). The website allows you to play all the radio stations in a local market with just one click. The RadioSherpa website also has a guide that displays the name of the song and artist for every song currently playing on the radio. This guide includes the new HD Radio channels that have recently started broadcasting. “With the advent of HD Radio, there are many more channels that are made available to consumers for free”, said Sasha Javid, co-founder of RadioSherpa. “For example, in Boston, the local hip hop station JAMN 94.5 has started broadcasting a new HD-2 channel that plays old-school hip hop music. But in order to get these new channels, consumers need to buy a new HD Radio receiver. Using our online guide, RadioSherpa’s website allows listeners to listen via the web to all the new HD-2 channels without buying a new HD Radio receiver.”
RadioSherpa is currently only in Boston, but will be expanding across the country over the next several months, starting with New York later this month. This means that hundreds of stations will be made available from across the country through the RadioSherpa website. By registering for your own MySherpa account, listeners can customize their guide to indicate their favorite stations or even send an alert when their favorite song is playing.
“Our goal has always been to make navigating the radio easy and familiar,” Javid said. “We have recreated the radio dial online. Furthermore, we thought that listeners would prefer to see what is playing on all the stations before committing to listening to a certain stream. This visual guide also allows listeners to quickly find alternatives if the song that is playing sucks."
