Lyme Community Forums today announced the launch of a new online community for Lyme Disease sufferers – http://www.lymecommunity.com. Membership is easy and free.

"Lyme Disease sufferers are some of the loneliest people in the world," forum founder Bryan Rosner said in an interview. "The heated debate and controversy surrounding diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease has reached such a boiling point that patients themselves are often completely forgotten about. This forum is a safe and supportive environment for Lyme sufferers. Topics of discussion will include everything from picking the best treatment option for your situation, to finding local support groups."

Rosner, who suffered from chronic Lyme Disease and was unable to get well with extended antibiotic therapy, published a book in 2005 describing the alternative therapies that eventually worked for him ( http://www.lymebook.com ). Rosner believes Lyme Disease is a much bigger problem than most people realize.

"Numerous recent news articles have detailed the rapid spread and real danger of Lyme Disease,” Rosner says. “This is excellent progress. Five years ago, the news media rarely, if ever, reported accurately on the prevalence of Lyme Disease. But we still have a long way to go. Although reporters are scratching the surface of the truth about this awful condition, there is very little agreement about what to actually do about Lyme Disease as far as treatment goes. Most doctors and researchers still use antiquated and inaccurate treatment guidelines. People develop chronic Lyme Disease due to inadequate therapy.”

Rosner is not new to founding online support communities for Lyme Disease sufferers. In 2003, he founded a Yahoo! Internet Discussion Group that today has over 1800 members. "I have a passion for connecting Lyme Disease sufferers with one another. If conventional and alternative medicine are slow to help Lyme sufferers, we must learn how to help ourselves and help each other. This is precisely the vision and mission statement of Lyme Community Forums.”
