ePrep.com Unveils New College Planning Section Featuring Former Administrators From Princeton University
November 09, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Education News
ePrep.com (www.eprep.com), a free website focusing on SAT test prep, has unveiled a new section on college planning. The site has begun to offer advice from guest experts Fred Hargadon, former Dean of Admission at Princeton University, and Don Betterton, former Director of Financial Aid at Princeton University. Karl Schellscheidt, a master teacher, private tutor, and proven standardized test expert, originally launched ePrep.com to provide students and their parents with free online access to expert advice and commentary on the SAT, ACT and SSAT tests. Through their commentary delivered in both written and video blogs on ePrep.com, Hargadon and Betterton offer practical advice to students and their parents. Hargadon covers admission topics like extracurricular activities, the college search, applications, and keeping perspective; while Betterton addresses financial aid topics and what parents need to know to make paying for college easier. As guests of ePrep.com, both experts will also comment regularly on newsworthy issues.
Hargadon is known for the personal attention he gave each and every application submitted during his tenure. He is also widely known for his friendly advice to students and parents on keeping perspective during the admissions process. Before his 15 year term at Princeton, Hargadon held the Dean of Admission positions at Swarthmore College and Stanford University. Prior to his time at Princeton, Hargadon also served as Senior Vice President for administration at the College Board.
A Certified College Planner (CCP), Betterton is well known for his unique ability to make complex financial topics understandable to those not familiar with the industry. Betterton served Princeton University as the Director of Financial Aid for 30 years, before retiring from the University in 2006. A national leader and trustee of the College Board, Betterton has written two books and a selection of articles on financial aid. Given his expertise in enrollment management, Betterton has served as a consultant for more than 30 different colleges.
Karl Schellscheidt, who created ePrep.com as an extension of his successful private tutoring practice, feels the new college planning section will expand the content on the site to provide a complete resource for college-bound students and their parents. “Students and parents know there is more to getting into college than just having great test scores. After getting their scores back, students begin to think about admissions and parents may start thinking about financial aid,” said Schellscheidt. “With expert advice and commentary from Fred and Don, ePrep.com is now a one-stop shop to answer all the questions people have during the stressful college admissions process. I’m hoping to add more guest experts in the future to give students even more of the insights and guidance they are looking for.”
The unique interactive format of ePrep.com is specifically designed to provide students with direct access to preparation strategies and expert insight at any time, and at absolutely no cost. In addition to access via the website, videos from ePrep.com are available as an iTunes™ subscription for download to iPods™ as well as other electronic devices.
