The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Indiana University Kelley School of Business to offer the Main Street Institute – a series of workshops and educational programming on areas such as sales and marketing, customer relations and managing growth. Central Indiana business professionals are invited to the Main Street Institute inaugural event, Dec. 1, from 8 – 10:30 a.m., at the Marriott Downtown. Peter Dunn, President and CEO of The Steak n Shake Company, will deliver the keynote address, with Chris Katterjohn, President and Publisher of Indianapolis Business Journal, serving as emcee.
In addition, attendees will choose from one of two break-out sessions, delivered by one Kelley School faculty member, paired with a leading Indianapolis-area business professional:
• Marketing on a Shoe-String Budget, with Susan P. Mantel, Associate Professor of Marketing, Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and Kirk Stahl, Executive Vice President and Director of Client Services, MARC USA
• The ABCs of a Business Plan, with Todd Saxton, Indiana Venture Center Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor, Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and Mark Hill, President Emeritus, Baker Hill
“We regularly survey our 4,000 members, and over and over again, they have identified professional development and supplemental business education as their greatest needs,” said Roland M. Dorson, president of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. “Our challenge has been to create a customized program just for them, and Main Street Institute is that answer.”
Registration begins at 7:15 a.m., with breakfast served at 8 a.m. and the keynote address at 8:30 a.m. The break-out session will begin at 9:15 a.m., with the seminar closing by 10:30 a.m.
Cost is $35 for members and Kelley School students and alumni, and $45 for non-members. Registrations can be made by contacting Julie Grice at 317.464.2259 or jgrice@indylink.com by Friday, Nov. 24.
Main Street Institute will consist of a year-round series of workshops and educational programming in areas such as sales and marketing, customer relations and managing growth, aimed at providing central Indiana professionals with the latest in business education.
